Earthquake, Hurricane and Facebook vs. Myspace Music

Hard to believe that in less then one weeks time we've seen/felt an actual 5+ Earthquake on the East Coast (5.8 on the Richter scale to be exact) and now we have Hurricane Irene bearing down on the City of Brotherly love among other east coast cities. I don't know if this is a sign of something but if it is I'm hoping its a good sign. If nothing else its gotten me to finally wake up and do another blog post for the first time in almost 6 months....I promise I won't wait for another earthquake/hurricane for the next one :)

In the music world, Myspace announced two months ago that Justin Timberlake had taken a ownership stake in Myspace and had plans to help re-make Myspace into a music destination online ( see Timberlake & Myspace). More recently though it looks like Facebook is planning to jumpstart their own music inititives in ways that will let music fans share music and see what their friends are listening to (see Facebook bringing on the Music.) I don't know how this will all play out but you can bet it will be pretty hard for Myspace to make much of a dent with anything that Facebook gets involved in. As a musician myself I will be watching closely to see what happens.

That's all for this 6 month late blog but take heart we will post again in just a few days. Next week we are launching a Custom Song contest to help celebrate International Love Songs Day on September 30th. Please stop back this Monday to check out the contest and if you're on the East coast of the US please stay dry and safe this weekend!
